Belchertown Fire Department’s new Pierce Tanker is now in production in WI. The 2500-gallon tanker will be built on a Kenworth T880 chassis through the AFG grant process. The capable rig is equipped with a 1500 gpm pump, Pierce Husky 3 foam system with Hercules Compressed Air Foam, and Whelen scene and emergency lighting. August 12, 2023: Belchertown FD’s new Pierce tanker has begun production! This week the chassis arrived and began the paint process. Next week the chassis may finish with paint.
August 26, 2023: This week the fire pump began to receive valves and plumbing. Next week the chassis should finish with paint, and the fire pump may be joined with the pump house structure.
September 16, 2023: This week the pump house finished with paint, and the body began fabrication! Next week the pump house may begin final assembly and the body should continue with fabrication.
September 23, 2023: This week the chassis continued with chassis prep, which will continue through next week.
September 30, 2023: This week the pump house began final assembly, and the body began the paint process! Next week the body may finish with paint.
October 7, 2023: This week the chassis continued with chassis prep and the body began to receive trim and wiring harnesses. Next week the pump house should be mounted.
October 14, 2023: This week the chassis continued with chassis prep, and the body continued to receive trim and wiring harnesses. Next week the pump house should be mounted.
October 21, 2023: This week the pump house was mounted! Next week the body should be mounted as well.
October 28, 2023: This week the chassis continued with chassis prep. Next week the chassis prep should continue and the body should be mounted!
November 4, 2023: This week the apparatus began final assembly after the body was mounted! Next week the chassis should continue with final assembly and installation of option content.
November 18, 2023: This week the apparatus continued with final assembly, which will continue next week as well.
December 2, 2023: This week the apparatus continued with final assembly! Next week it should continue with final assembly and installation of option content, and may be released for testing!
December 8, 2023: This week Belchertown Fire Department’s new Pierce Tanker was released for initial and third-party pump testing! It began final product evaluation, and any remaining content will be installed prior to release!
