Cambridge, MA, is set to enhance its firefighting fleet with the arrival of two state-of-the-art Pierce Pumpers, currently in production. This ‘Double Delivery’ will be equipped with a 1250 GPM pump and a 500-gallon water tank. Safety is paramount, featuring enhanced frontal impact protection airbag systems and a robust 304L stainless steel 152″ second-generation body designed to withstand the rigors of emergency responses. Maneuverability is optimized with the Oshkosh TAK-4 T3 rear steer system, enabling effortless navigation through Cambridge’s diverse urban landscape. Additionally, these apparatuses will include CZ Connect® Telematics and IRT Idle Reduction Technology, which will save on fuel and maintenance over the vehicle’s lifespan. December 2, 2023: Production on the new Pierce Pumper has begun! This week the cab completed fabrication and began the paint process, while the pump house structure was fabricated. Next week the cab may continue through paint!
December 8, 2023: This week the cab continued through paint, and the body began fabrication. Next week these processes will continue.
December 16, 2023: This week the cab completed paint, the pump house began initial assembly, and the body completed fabrication! Next week the cab may be staged to begin initial assembly, and the pump house may continue initial assembly.
December 23, 2023: This week the cab began initial assembly! Next week the pump house and body may begin the paint process.
January 6, 2024: This week the cab continued initial assembly, and the body began the paint process! Next week the pump house and body will begin or continue the paint process.
January 14, 2024: This week the frame build began, the pump house completed initial assembly, and the body completed the paint process! Next week the frame build may continue, and the body should begin initial assembly.
January 20, 2024: This week the cab and pump house were installed on the frame, and the body completed initial assembly! Next week the body may be merged with the chassis while initial assembly continues.
January 27, 2024: This week the chassis was staged to continue assembly. Next week the body may be merged with the chassis while the apparatus may begin initial assembly.
February 3, 2024: This week the body was merged with the chassis followed by the start of initial assembly! Next week initial assembly may continue.
February 7, 2024: This week the apparatus completed initial assembly and began final assembly! Next final assembly may continue.
February 17, 2024: This week the apparatus completed final assembly! It will now continue through the testing phase.
February 24, 2024: This week the apparatus completed test and released to quality and graphics! Next week the quality process may continue.
March 1, 2024: Cambridge Fire Department’s new Pierce Enforcer Pumper is finishing up quality and graphics this week! The apparatus will be delivered soon!
