Exciting News: Belchertown FD’s New Aerial Tower is in Production!

The Belchertown (MA) Fire Department’s latest addition, the Pierce Enforcer Ascendant 100-foot Aerial Platform, is now in production at Pierce Manufacturing in Appleton, WI. The apparatus boasts a powerhouse 2000 GPM pump and the cutting-edge Husky Foam System, complemented by the Hercules CAFS for superior fire suppression. It’s all controlled through the state-of-the-art Pierce Command Zone system, and lit by Whelen’s dependable scene and emergency lighting, ensuring optimal visibility and response capabilities. We are eager to see this new apparatus come to life and serve the community of Belchertown. Check out our weekly progress updates from the factory floor!

March 23, 2024: Belchertown Fire Department’s new Pierce Aerial Tower is now in production! This week the cab began fabrication. Next week this process will continue! 

April 6, 2024: This week the cab continued fabrication, and may finish the process next week!

April 14, 2024: This week the cab completed fabrication and began the paint process! Next week this process will continue. 

April 20, 2024: This week the cab completed the paint process and began initial assembly, while the rear body module began fabrication! Next week assembly of the cab will continue, along with rear body module fabrication. 

April 27, 2024: This week the cab completed initial assembly, the pump house structure was fabricated, and the rear body module completed fabrication! Next week several parts will be staged for next steps. 

May 4, 2024: This week the frame build began, while the pump house structure, rear body module, and cab were staged. Next week the frame build may continue, and the pump house structure and rear body module may begin the paint process!

May 11, 2024: This week the frame build continued, the pump house began initial assembly,  and the rear body module began the paint process! Next week the cab may be installed on the frame, the pump house may continue initial assembly, and the rear body module may continue through paint.

May 18, 2024: This week the frame build continued, the pump house completed initial assembly, and the rear body module completed paint! Next week the cab and pump house may be installed on the frame, the torque box may begin initial assembly, and the rear body module may begin initial assembly!

May 25, 2024: This week the cab and pump house were installed on the frame. The torque box ,and the front and rear body modules, began initial assembly! Next week the torque box may be merged with the chassis, and assembly may continue. The front and rear body modules may continue initial assembly.

June 1, 2024: This week the torque box was installed on the chassis, and the rear body module completed initial assembly. Next week the chassis  and the front body module may continue initial assembly!

June 15, 2024: This week the apparatus completed initial assembly and began final assembly. In the next report final assembly may continue.

June 21, 2024: This week the apparatus completed final assembly and was staged! Next week it may remain staged for aerial pin.

July 26, 2024: This week the apparatus remained staged while the aerial device arrived and started initial assembly. In the next report, the apparatus may remain staged while the aerial device may continue initial assembly. 

August 2, 2024: This week the aerial completed initial assembly and was pinned to the apparatus followed by the start of aerial testing. 

August 9, 2024: This week the apparatus completed testing and was released to quality and graphics where any remaining content will be applied. 

August 16, 2024: This week the apparatus continued the quality process where any remaining content is applied. Once completed, it will be made ready for customer acceptance inspection.
