A new pierce apparatus is underway at the Appleton, WI factory for South Portland Fire Department, ME. This Pierce Ascendant 100-foot Aerial Tower will a 1500 GPM pump, Whelen emergency lighting and Hiviz Scene lighting. We are excited to see the progress of this new apparatus. December 23, 2023: This week South Portland’s new Aerial started production with cab fabrication!
Dec 29, 2023: This week the cab continued with fabrication, and it should move on to paint next week!
January 6, 2024: This week the cab continued fabrication, which may be completed next week. Then it will release to paint!
January 14, 2024: This week the cab completed fabrication and began the paint process! Next week it will continue through paint.
January 20, 2024: This week the cab completed paint, and the pump house structure and rear body module were fabricated! Next week, the pump house structure may begin initial assembly, and the body may be staged to begin the paint process.
January 27, 2024: This week the cab began initial assembly and the pump house structure was painted! Next week the cab may continue initial assembly, and the pump house may begin initial assembly.
February 3, 2024: This week the cab continued initial assembly, the front body module was fabricated, and the rear body module was staged to begin the paint process! Next week the pump house may begin initial assembly, and the body modules may begin the paint process.
February 10, 2024: This week the cab continued assembly, the frame build began, the pump house was painted, the torque box began assembly, and the rear body module began the paint process! Next week all processes will continue.
February 17, 2024: This week the cab completed initial assembly, and the rear body module completed paint! Next week the pump house and rear body module may both begin initial assembly.
February 24, 2024: This week the cab, pump house, and torque box were installed on the frame! The front body module completed paint, and the rear body module began initial assembly. Next week assembly will continue on the body modules.
March 1, 2024: This week the rear body module was merged with the chassis, and assembly continued on both body modules! Next week the front body module may be installed, and the apparatus may start final assembly.
March 10, 2024: This week the front body module was installed, and apparatus completed initial assembly! Final assembly has begun and will continue next week!
March 15, 2024: This week the apparatus continued final assembly, which will continue next week!
March 23, 2024: This week the apparatus completed final assembly and was staged! Next week it may remain staged in preparation for aerial pin.
March 29, 2024: This week the aerial device began initial assembly! Next week the apparatus will be staged while aerial assembly continues.
April 6, 2024: The aerial device has been expertly pinned to the apparatus, marking a major milestone in progress. Next we will begin comprehensive aerial testing to ensure everything operates seamlessly.
April 14, 2024: This week South Portland FD’s new Aerial Tower has completed testing and released to quality and graphics, where any remaining content will be applied! It’s almost ready for final inspection!
